We have been localising software and translating user manuals for leading producers from around the world since 2006. We provide ongoing language support to a German company that focuses on its own broad range of software for managing dental and medical devices. This means that aside from having a sound technical background, our translators also need an understanding of the terminology used in the dental and medical sectors. Other projects we have been involved in include localising and translating user manuals for various CRM packages, banking software, and Web-based SAAS applications.

Our relationship with the maritime industry started in 2009 when we were involved in an ultimately successful tendering process initiated by Germany’s Federal Bureau of Maritime Casualty Investigation. The Federal Bureau of Maritime Casualty Investigation is a federal higher authority in Hamburg and subordinated to Germany’s Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. Similar to the UK’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch, the Federal Bureau investigates marine casualties that fall within its area of responsibility. Our partnership with Germany’s leading manufacturer of fertilisers and plant protection products for professional and amateur users started in 2008. Next to the translation of labels, instructions for use, and an in-house magazine, we also provide certified translations of the registration documents required under EU law. This involves extensive expertise in terms of the active substances that make up the various products, but also journalistic skills when it comes to translating the magazine. Since the client in question operates in most of the EU Member States and various countries beyond Europe, the translations we provide cover a wide range of different languages.

We started translating for the legal community in 2005. Since then, we have translated more contracts, terms of business, and certificates than we care to mention. In 2009, we were commissioned with the translation of various legal instruments from German to English for the Austrian government. Whether it is a standard contract or an entire instrument, translating legal documents requires a methodical approach — especially when a sentence starts at the top of one page and finishes on the next — and logical thinking. We worked on our first annual report for one of Germany’s leading auditing firms back in 2006 and now translate several each year. Our experience covers both the GAAP and the IFRS accounting systems.
